Anna university is multi discipline university specialising in automotive related engineering school affiliated with state institutions.It has many international professors.It has focused on Industry university partnership and problem solving.It was started in 1978.
Its greatest achievement has been building a satellite which was launched last week by ISRO.This 40 Kilo satellite is first of its kind built by a university in India. Quite a feet for a university.It is better for science and knowledge if such projects are undertaken by multi discipline university.I know of Worcester polytech institute professor going to space as other major participation by university.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ANNA UNIVERSITY FOR INNOVATION AND THIS ACHIEVEMENT.
p.s I did a Little research and found out that Anna which means in Tamil older brother was the founder and responsible for changing the name of state of Madras to Tamil Nadu. He is considered father of modern Tamil Nadu.He was born in 1909 one hundred years ago.
