Islamist extremists will exploit Democracy to get elected and then crush all opposition as they represent the masses and are doing the peoples will.THIS Tactic was used by Hitler and many modern day followers have learned this lesson.Democracy and elections are important .They are not the ends in themselves.Democracy is institutions which allow opposing views to be developed and tolerated and many times accepted.
All the societies are rules by consent of the majority.In democracy minority view is allowed to flourish and room is given to ideas as it is considered that no body has monopoly on good ideas.Irrespective of the source a good ideas need to be nourished .
If an idea does not work in democracy we can change in reasonable time .Courts are also there to protect the minorities and unpopular people.
Sea what happened in Gaza.Once Hammas was elected they used extra official militias and made official militia of PLO obsolete and powerless .Forcing them to leave Gaza and go to west bank.In the process they have wiped out democracy completely .Their is no room for descent in Gaza. With disappearance of democracy chances of peace are also diminishing .Democracy without the systems needed to nurture it will always be victim of forces able to manipulate its flaws.Colonial powers used it for their benefit.Let us make democratic institutions stronger so we may live in a peaceful world and help end poverty and misery.
