ISRO is Launching one of the satellites ANUSAT(Anna university micro satellite).A 40 kg about 90lb satellite .It would be no news other than the fact that it is designed by a university in India. As per the news in The Hindu it is work of teachers and students of Anna University(i have never heard of this university)
This satellite is supposed to be a store and forward communication satellite.It will help maintain confidentiality's of university documents.It will also help in drought and wasteland studies. Other envisioned uses are for development.In university setting because of availability of experts in many fields more yet unknown uses for this technology can be found. A RED LETTER DAY FOR THE INDIAN UNIVERSITY AND INDIA'S SPACE PROGRAM.
Other fact it is taking 230 tonnes of vehicle(rocket ,fuel ,etc).to launch only 400 kg of pay load.
