Demjanjuk a Ukrainian born is charged with Nazi era crimes and who was found guilty by Israel and then his judgement was overturned as enough evidence was found that different person was the criminal of that crime.Us courts striped him of his citizenship on some grounds that he lied in his application for citizenship.
Now he has been deported to Germany for some other crimes committed in Nazi regime and is to be tried for them. I believe in the American system of justice and believe that it is important that a guilty person be punished but it is more important that no innocent person get punished , even if many guilty go free.
Nazi's committed horrible atrocities we may never be able to punish all the culprits at least it is becoming impossible 70 years after the crimes. In our desire to punish the guilty we should continue to charge a person who is in limelight for what ever reason and convict them for any crime to satisfy primal desire for revenge. Is he poster child of Nazi' atrocities or is he an easy target as he was born in Ukraine and has lost his US citizenship.Is it possible that they have not found any Nazi's of that era in Germany, Austria,Poland , Slovakia and other countries that they have to try this 89 year old man again for similar crime as a different person.
IS HE LAST SYMBOL OF NAZI ATROCITIES ??????????
That may be so but trying him again and again for different crimes leaves a bad taste of injustice in mouth.
