India's Elections

India Just had the largest month long elections in its history. They had to be held this way as after the Mumbai Terrorist attacks of November 26 2008 ,world was worried about the security in India .India has many security problems including the racial tensions ,Religious tension, regional and other problems home grown and promoted by neighbors from china, Pakistan ,Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. It has many laws which are relics of British colonial rule of 1947.These rules include separate family law for different religions. No uniform residency for all the citizens.Special privileges given to different groups by British has also continued to poison independent India's try to end discrimination and promote equal franchise for all citizens.

These elections of April -May 2009 are very unique in the History of India .This is the largest election held any where. For India it is unique only a generation ago, there was no birth and death records.Computers have brought lot of standardization and they have pictures of all the 715 million voters in the database.India has also manufactured a very stable electronic voting machine for 150 or so dollars. There are more than a million voting machines and for holding voting in far away places they had to air lift men and equipment so people may vote.It is very important to note that a country with less than 25 dollars for health care thousands of dollars and important man power and machine is utilised so that a few citizens may participate in their right to vote and be counted in the process of choosing leaders.Power of ballot is great and for the first time one of separatist leader of Kashmir ran for parliament and lost.Even the separatists understand that when given many chances they can prove of disapprove what majority of the people want. Most people choose moderation, progress and better life for children over mind and body domination of yester years.
