Elections are going on and have been finished in five of these six states.These elections have enhanced the power of democracy than any schemes of power grab through elections.
In India Congress party and its allies won .This shows that electorate chose continuing the economic policies of Non political prime minister of India over militarism,communalism, isolationism and status co.
This is no vote for keeping the same players in power .Communist lost most power as they acted against India's national interest and were voting against India Us nuclear deal. It seems the voter has become educated and can see who is sincere in taking care of problems of the masses.If India does not over spend on defense it may become economical sufficient state.India should also avoid to jump into autoage to help its masses . Information Technology is one of the solutions.Other thing is India should reduce raw material costs to the world market rate.Local is ecological and practical for India and the world.
Bangladesh had elections and daughter of Mujibur Rehman is the new prime minister and a coo was crushed and the civilian government survives.Great hope for Bangladesh and improved relations with India will help it progress.India can be good economic partner with Bangladesh. Better relations with neighbors can help develop the whole subcontinent.
Lebanon,has also very interesting story.In spite of the popular observation Hezbollah lost to moderate parties.May it was a sign which public understood that if Hezbollah wins it may be last election ,before complete militarization and totalitarianism.
Election in Israel have been against modernity at the same time it has a well established democratic traditions and educated electorate.Israel can adopt with the changing political realities.With stronger involvement of US president and Secretary of state Clinton and special envoy Mitchell political dynamics is going to change in the region.
US elections of the President OBAMA tells a lot about America than anything else .America is still fighting two wars. Holbrooks is keeping pressure on Pakistan and Afghanistan to keep them on the agenda, so America can get out of this war. US still has not used the India Card to the fullest .It is In American interest to develop closer ties with largest democracy in the world .I have written separately about Indian electoral dynamics. With the world wide economic crisis (banking) real estate, auto industry and balance of trade and two wars has put America in tough financial position.Lat years oil prices of $150 dollars barrel had hurt the economies in a bad way.Oil producing countries and Russia will do OK because of its financial reserves .China Will do OK in the short run as it has a great surplus also.But we are losing the engine of financial success United states because of extremely high budget deficits,unemployment,real estate deflation and banking crisis and crisis of confidence.
Presidential elections in Iran will tell us if Iran will go for change or another five years of same old same old.
