Senate making health care policy not pretty??

Senate health care committee

No wonder we can not provide reasonable health care for Americans. Finally when us congress is trying to do something it is total mess..As the senate rules make it possible for every senator to grandstand and make points for their constituents(voters, supporters, donors, volunteers and allies). So when a bill was presented for 100 senators they offered 500 amendments.Yes every amendment has to be discussed in the committee and voted on.If it wins in committee it goes to the whole senate then the bill coming from house will be reconciled and final bill passed to be sent to president to be signed into law.Minimum time required for each amendment is one hour.Senate is in session mostly about 25 hours a week .So this bill would take twenty days of senates time just to get to the floor of senate.

Points being discussed are

Can a public plan charge less than lowest private plan.Manny senators arguing that it should not so that the profitability of the private insurance providers may be maintained.

Can secretary of health negotiate prices.( does it amount to price control a bad word in some circles)

Our private plans have not served us yet manny senators have a notion to protect the bankrupt system.

No body is willing to recognise unless private companies are willing to compete with public plans in finding ways to cut cost and provide better and more efficient service we may be left with single payer government plan.It is very sad to say large private providers are willing to milk the system and not compete to create benefits to public.I would not be surprised if some foreign companies do not jump in and compete in this environment. There are countries and companies willing to work on 3% net profit on the service provided .

Watch out America today enterprise China(All state owned) is not only competing against our for profit corporations it is competing against our public sectors also( just to define they are education, research and development, Water sewage, defense, security, space, health)
