I watched Slumdog millionaire

Couple of days ago i watched Slum Dog Millionaire,a multi Oscar winning film.It is Bollywood film in the sense as it was made in Bombay(Mumbai).Other thing i noticed it was not a typical escapist Bollywood film with dance,song and love triangle with family tragedy thrown in.
It is made by a British producer.I guess it still takes a British producer to make a hit Bollywood film to be acceptable to Hollywood audiences.Lowly Indians are not capable of that( sorry do not have that clout)Other bollywood hit was Gandhi.
I am not taking anything away from these very talented people.Just making an observation.In my view Gandhi was really outstanding movie but in case of Slum dog Millionaire I am not convinced .Yes it was well made movie.The song JAI HO seemed to pop out of nowhere and seems like it could have been song video just added to the film as an after thought.Kudos for 2 Oscars for music and song.May be it reflects sad state of movie making.
As a person born in India I felt that the movie was made to Jar our sensibilities.Scenes of the kid jumping into poop were really made to touch the core of soul and not in the nicest sense. Blinding of the beggar child was also done in the same wane.In India most people have heard of such happenings,but in our heart of hearts we do not believe it.
If because of this Film some how conditions of ghettos worldwide can be improved i will forgive this Jarring of the spirit. For that reason alone i can support the film makers , producers and the Film Academy.
