I read books differently now than in my youth.

When i was young I read sometimes just to read others so i may know the masters and the historical thinkers. It was important and i think thats what formed my base for learning. When i was young my father had told me that in his youth while preparing for test for Indian millitary academy entrance he had spent two years in libraries reading all the masters and preparing his body for military service. He had read several hundred classics in his youth this prepared him for a life of love for learning. He enjoyed urdu and pharsi poetry as well as english poetry>i have enjoyed Hindi as well Urdu poetry in Devanagari script as never learned Arabic script in which Urdu was written in my father's youth.
When i came to America in 1972 i had two or three years where i found the company of books very attractive and was able to buy all the classics as they were very reasonably priced in paper back editions.I had sent most of them to India after reading once. This habit of giving away books after reading once have somehow stayed with me for all these years.I have really enjoyed that .I only wish others would share their best read books with me as well.In my arrogance i have given many copies of us constitution,Democracy in America by Alexis De Tocqueville,Bill Mccibens book about his study of environment in Adirondack mountains of US,Curtiba in Brazil and state of Kerala India about human hope. One of the other important paper i have loved to share is Swami Vivekanand's lecture in chicago in 9-11-1893.This date is important and is connected with America by the events of 9/11/2001.what a coincidence Swami died on July 4Th as Jefferson and Adams did(other two American presidents).
Now i read books a little bit differently i first read blurbs on the covers. The order of reading is introduction, about author and authors preface and after word if any then the main text.I have enjoyed this way of reading as it prepares me & makes me aware of what to expect in the book .I am writing this just to be useful to my fellow readers in their reading.
