IIT entrance exams and two super 30 mentors

Super 30(a name given to test preparation regime) concept is being developed in poorest parts of India to prepare students for one of the most grueling national test for premier technical schools of India(IIT). About 400,000 student appeared for test and about 10,00 will be selected for admission.
Super 30 has picked bright students without financial resources and have provided them with food ,shelter and coaching for theses tests .It is a 9 month total immersion course .More like a test study military boot camp.Where students live eat and breath IIT ENTRANCE TESTS .In the nine months they study they take the test for several hundred times Super 30 has had a success rate of almost 100 percent ,which is quite admirable.
Congratulations to these students and teachers for their great success.
Now let me talk about what is happening in America. We are dumbing down our children. In our desire to develop independent minded youth .We are letting them(may be even asking them) to make choices about studies without teaching them basics of the subjects.
Instead of setting up our children to a high learning track most schools and teachers are telling the students at very low grades that it is OK if they did not do well in math as teachers were themselves poor in math. This is not advanced math this we are talking about basic math of primary school. It is sad that most of these teachers are not even aware that what a terrible harm they are doing to these children with their loose talk.Every child should learn Arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, geometry(two dimensional and solid ),differential and integral calculus.Reason for learning are two fold .One they may become adults who may pursue independent studies of any subject with this knowledge second is for cognitive reason.Once the understanding of mathematical concepts develops, it allows a student to look at the world in a unique way.It is easier for a student well versed in higher math to grapple complex concepts in philosophy, reasoning, applied sciences .Our world is becoming more and more complex so it is important we teach our citizens to be able to think in many deep layers.Failing to do it will leave us dependent on people who are trained in other places than America. Sadly it will erode our leadership in the world.
America is known for its citizens being highly informed .We must not loose this fundamental character of our people.
