Kashgar en route of silk road is Being demolished is

Kashgar a Uighur town in central Asia near the border with India ,Russia,Pakistan. Its important heritage site with people owning their home for many many generations.IT IS BEING DEMOLISHED TO MAKE A MODERN CITY.In the process the natives are loosing most importance thing to them their home land(The land where their home is built and there ancestors lived).
We Americans have forgotten the right to home ownership without any hindrance as today we pay large property taxes which are minimal in rest of the world. We may be the only country where one can lose a home for non payment of property taxes .We are also the only country where people file for bankruptcy for inability to pay medical bills. In many places in the world people sell their homes to get expensive medical treatment but do not have to file bankruptcy.
Having an ancestral home is really nice as it is a family inheritance and guaranty of shelter . Communist China has replaced this inter generational home ownership to new 70 year home lease plan. With such a system one does not build belonging to a particular place.Value of these properties will start going down as the time left on these in next 30 years will reduce to 20 years .Home ownership and concept of inheritance will disappear.
I do not understand is China becoming a totally utilitarian state and do not want people to have any satisfaction of ownership. Is it going to be the last nationalist state with state above all.I am afraid for the ancient China's soul.State capitalism in China has delivered much wanted services to its citizens but is it killing the soul of its people .Is progress and preference of one or other ethnic group enough reason to surrender individualism and freedom of thought.
