Ludhiana, May 22For the first time in the state, students of all government schools in Ludhiana district will get clean drinking water with the Deputy Commissioner directing the District Education Officer to get reverse osmosis (RO) water purifier systems installed in the schools. The Chief Medical Officer’s office has even started making preparations in this regard.
Chief Medical Officer SP Sharma said an amount of Rs 10,000 would be spent on each RO system to be installed at the schools. These purifiers would be installed within a month, so that students could get clean water after summer vacation.
The administration action comes in the wake of reports that 28 schools in the district were providing contaminated water to students. Water samples tested by the Health Department were found to be unfit for drinking. The samples were taken after teachers reported that many children were suffering from water-borne diseases.wanted to share this story
