Carbon tax is counter productive

Co2 tax is counter productive.CO2 is an inert gas .It is not harmful mixed in air.Only CO(carbon mono oxide) is dangerous. CO is formed by incomplete combustion.Most of the fires are created by burning organic compounds(compounds containing carbon and or life)Fire is created when organic material is heated and it reacts with oxygen .In complete combustion with availability of enough oxygen it forms CO2 and no CO.
In today's difficult economical environment to put tax on co2 is silly .It will only increase cost of current energy supply without much benefit.If government wanted to raise revenue it could impose a import duty of $3 per barrel.With our imports of about 12 million barrels a day it would raise 36 X 365=13140 million dollars.About 13 billion dollars per year .This will have two fold impact one our use of foreign will go down .Alternate fuels and sources of energy will become more competitive in price in the country and this revenue could help built the infrastructure we need to build.By removing loop holes extra tax revenue would also be generated from local producers higher profits.
We should also concentrate on carbon neutral atomic energy for electricity production.This has proven to be safest and least impacting technology in last 60 or so years. And as fusion reactors are developed and built in the future it may prove to be most recyclabel of all the energy sorces.I AM GLAD THE WORLD IS WAKING UPTO NUCLEAR POWER.
