It is quite charming to note that India has chosen an outstanding entrepreneur and thinker to lead much needed unique identity requirements of the nation.By giving him a rank of cabinet minister it has shown the seriousness of the nation to tackle this task.It is important that he has been brought into government .This type project has to be undertaken by a capable leadership without fear of it being undermined by industrial conflicts and undue advatages .It sure is a monumental task given to a capable leader with enough resources and authority.
Nandan Nilekani who has writen a popular timely book about India "imagining India" has a large enough vision to do such a task which can benefit generations to come .It may even unleash the benefits of Information technology to ordinary citizens of the world.
India is in a unique position.It is starting to create a database from scratch when the information technology has developed into advanced stage.It can take the benefit of all the mistakes done by othersand add the things we would like to add in a human database like biometrics and security features to protect the data integrity and privacy.
Let us see what Mr Nandan Nilekani is going to deliver in the next two years,that is the time to develop this product under the authority of UIDAI Unique Identification authority of india.
