You would be too .If you paid its bills.I have tried to divide the federal, state and city budgets on per person basis to get an idea how much my government costs me.
My share of federal expenses is $10000 per year as the budget is in the range of 3 000billion. My state budget is running into 10 billion for a population of of one million making my burden again 10000 dollars for me.My local city budget is 158million and the city population is 79 thousand making my share $2000 per year.
My federal state and city government costs me $22000 per year.It is same amount for my daughters as well as my wife.
Now you know why as American we feel poor.
Where we could control these costs or could get better results for our expenses.
We spend more than 32 billion per year on prisons which is more than on education .It is more than $100 per person. Many of the sentences are for drug use crimes.Prison has neither proved to be deterrent nor rehabilitative.
I can say carcerating for all crimes without character building or eucation has not worked.If we want to change this we have to do things differently.
CHANGE THE ACTION IF YOU WANT DIFFERENT RESULTS.

32 billion per year on Prisons. I am curious how much india is spending money on prisons. Why US Government is not thinking about this money they may plan differently- it's Huge amount.
ReplyDeleteJust sharing with you if somebody steals 500 hundred dollars of stuff and it is his/er third offense in some states they go for many many years in jail.Costing the nation $32000 per year.It does not include the cost of law enforcement (police) or the judicial system. For sure we doing it wrong.IT IS SEVERE PUNISHMENT TO SOCIETY FOR ONE CRIMINALS FAILURE.
