US Defense department is considering allowing Sikhs to serve with long hair.

Reading a story in The Hindu i became aware the plight of and foolishness of us defense department .These two young officers who belong to Sikh faith went through Military program of paid education for military service.When they joined they were told by recruiter that they could keep their hair and serve .As the time has come for them to serve they are told that they have to cut their hair.So they have appealed to the defense Secretary for relief.
I do not know if American armed forces have any safety problems with long hair .It may be nuisance to have only two officers not conforming the strict military code of uniformity.I am sure in the medical field these officers can serve as well as any other doctor .They should not be asked to choose between their religion and service.One of the tenets of Sikhism is that they can not cut their hair.
These Turban wearing ,long hair soldier doctors could serve in Afghanistan theatre of action better than many of their counterparts in service who have lesser sensibilities to south Asian culture.

Give these young officers a chance to serve the nation.NATION NEEDS THEIR SERVICE AND THEY ARE EAGER TO SERVE.
