Concentrated courses at university

It is time that university got out of its cocoon and took on the challenges of our times.She should leave its legacy of easy learning environment for assorted subjects in extended four or five years to get a degree in liberal arts or sciences.

Let us put the kids and teachers as they enter college through a required intensive learning program lasting two semesters.Let us call it college boot camp.We live there ,eat there ,exercise mentally and physically with the concentration and devotion of boot camp.With classes starting at 730 breakfast lunch and dinner together in the hall.And two subjects with at least two classes daily of two hour duration.Fixed meal times and rest times. Any body not willing to follow the routine may choose different institution.

Courses can be in writing, using software's in educational settings,basic math and computer courses,Refresher courses in subjects studied in high school to refresh the concepts.Two subjects for every four weeks with class room time of at least48 hours per week. Without computer aided teaching it will be very difficult to control and assess the work.But this challenge is worth taking.If we are successful we will create an environment of concentrated learning and higher out put like military makes (soldier) out of boys and girls A university boot camp should promise to make scholars out of students.Students should be forced to meet professional in every field they can major in before they choose there fields of study .It is silly that we ask inexperienced kids to choose their fields of study without giving them guidance to the fields.Boot camp should be six days a week with Sunday off for rest.

Finally if boot camp is too hard only the brave and strong will make it and they may be the one's who could study any subject they put there mind to .Let us make it better for our kids and reduce waste of time of youth.Early adulthood is not for dating and party.Schools can also provide opportunity to the seniors to mingle and meet in safe non combative environment.In the last year job related skills may be imparted and 25 percent of the time can be spent on getting on the job training.

End result will be better More capable students and happier capable work force.Saving money for parents ,students and the society.
