Indian president signs free education into law

India is moving in the right direction .I was not aware that India did not have a compulsory education available to all citizens

Free compulsory primary education has been the norm in America.Though i do not know history of it .Free education and free libraries have played important role in the development of this democracy. Educated populace is the best safety for a responsible elected government in society.

Now with free compulsory education to be implemented in three years in India ,i feel that it is a wonderful mandate and goal to be achieved.India plans to provide minimum eight years of schooling to all children with in three years.

The task is quite daunting.Hundreds of thousands of schools to be built .It seems that 90 percent of the expenses will be born by federal government.They have to find all these teachers .What will be the quality of education?To become a world class society India will have to improve the education as it builds it.It might be easier to do it from scratch as we do not have to undo and relearn bad habits.

Questions need to answered will the schools come to where students are or they will need to find transportation.What about books,pens,pencils who is going to pay.Will the students study on hungry stomachs .Will they teach health and hygiene.

These all the above questions any social scientist wanted to answer and rich wanted to find a way to influence .This is the time to get in and find ways and means to make the most difference in the process.

While thinking about this great adventure i was wondering would it be better to have a nurse station with minimal facilities in each school .Will that help India to reduce health care costs.

I invite all other thinkers to blog on this subject to help develop this concept even if just for intellectual curiosity.

Will it become a too large a bureaucracy to work efficiently.Will India take advantage of its Information Technology to benefit this sector .It is chance if funded properly by every stake holder can create the benefit framers of this law could have only wished for.

Why not build trade school at the same time one for every ten primary schools .Will these schools be from grade 1 to grade 8.I hope so .Please plan to build high schools at the same time also .
Plans should be made to use these schools for 15 hours a day and 300 days a year.
