The Indian government refused Thursday to allow foreign journalists to cover the Dalai Lama's visit to a northeastern state at the heart of a long-running border dispute with China. This dispute is creation of communist China.Once India gave in to China on Tibet it started extending its tentacle in other parts of India and have funded and trained Maoist Rebels in India.
Democratic India finds it difficult to deal with rebels as Military is considered not a proper force to deal with internal rebellions.
China has claimed all the lands even if they were only looked at by some Chinese ruler or any other part of Chinese empire at a time.Communist china does not have much in common with Taiwan,Urumchi,Tibet and Hong Kong. They are as diverse as any nations of the world and have aspiration not in line with CHINA the communist enterprise.
The Associated press story makes the point of Chinese Hegemony in international relations. They are in the habit of bullying every other nation and getting away with it.It is very belligerent behaviour unbecoming of a nation like China who want to be a leader among nations .China has been very successful with its command economy to increase business and has challenge all the forces of moderation which would make it a more democratic pluralistic society.
China can not have both ways.It can not take advantage of the free market trading system of the democratic societies and restrict freedom of individuals and remain like a lunch room Bully ,whom everybody wants to avoid in order not to be get a nose bleed.China will have to stop threatening every nation who does not agree with its leadership.Like individuals, nations can not give into bullies for ever even if they are as shrewd as China.

Being mindful costs more but should not make us broke.
I was listening NPR report concerning effect of Wind turbines on migrating bats of Canada.
The story is very interesting. These Wind Turbines are supposed to be latest incarnations of environmental friendly carbon neutral power generation.A full cost benefit can tell us real benefits of the technology.I am convinced that in certain high wind corridor it can be3 part of the solution.
The problem is that these turbines fall in the migratory path of these bats on their winter vacation to Mexico.( i am jealous ). Many of the bats die if they come near these wind turbines.Unlike migratory birds these bats do not have great lung capacity and near the turbine the air pressure is low and their lungs can not adjust enough and blood comes into them from the blood vessels in the lungs and kill them.
sadly they die without even coming in contact with these turbines.
These are no rare or protected bats .should they be considered casualties of clean electric. Not so quick .Today their are many among us who do not accept that innocent creatures should die for our sloppiness. That i call being mindful.
Solution seems to be either finding ways to warn the bats ,do not have the turbines in the migratory path,or shut down the turbines in the migration season.
The solution should not leave us broke or without the benefit of the wind power.
Creation of sonic devices to warn the bats have not been successful so far ,scientists are still experimenting with different wave lengths of sound and light.
Many of the wind turbines have already been installed so moving them is not an attractive option.
Solution is partially shutting down the turbines .It has been found that when turbines are turning at high speed bats stay away so it is being studied to shut down the turbines when their is little wind at night time.As not much electricity is produced when turbines are turning slowly. So at minimal costs in the migration season we can save bats.
Moral of the story is that mindfulness will cost a little more but should not leave us broke. It is a middle path (as Dalai Lama) has promoted let the bats live and we find new renewable sources of energy.Ahimsa(non violence) as Gandhi would have practiced.

Dalai Lama new missionary of democracy.
It is great symbol and recognition of religious Dalai Lama that in defiance of China's hard lined and belligerent treatment of Tibetan leader and their religion he has been invited to Taiwan(democratic China) to console the victims of natural calamity. He promotes peace and better relations with China and tells the people of Taiwan it is important for them to be a closer to PRC (China) and they should hold on to the democracy which they have earned and developed in their nation.
No leader any where has said this in such clear and peaceful terms before .
He can be recognised as the major leader of minority rights for any minority in the world .He may be most important activist for his people,in the 21st century. If china chooses to be a democratic society and appreciate its diversity of cultures and languages Dalai Lama's contribution for it will be a beacon in a sea of darkness. It is so important for the human race as China has fifth of humanity which is becoming a financially secure.
I am more impressed by this monks dignity, humbleness ,self control and ability to smile even when some small things go wrong.Yesterday i watched on TV he was to read a prayer from a book when the table fell apart he smiled and then i saw two monks hold the book on a shawl in a cradle and he read the prayer and blessed the assembly.
Confucious would be proud of this man's diginty and would say "Manhood at its best, manhood at its best indeed".

Dalai Lama,s Visit to Taiwan.
Taiwanese President just announced a visit by Dalai Lama to the southern Taiwan to console the Buddhist population.
A religious leader like Dalai Lama can help heal the wounds of natural disasters and help people deal with loss.Chinese government does not understand need of spiritualism and soul.It recognizes only material world and power of state.Economically strong China should recognise that people do not live on bread alone.
Congratulations to Taiwan and its people for strength to stand for its right to freedom of thought and religion. These rights need to be defended and not abandoned as society progresses.A materially fulfilled man will search for higher goals.
Higher freedom of choice is the norm of advanced society.
