About solar energy and batteries etc.

It is about time for the world to harness the solar energy.in case of India it is in need of energy production capacity. It is doing everything to diversify its energy use.like many developing countries they are building power plants using ,hydro electric, coal, gas ,oil, now nuclear and also solar and wind power. One thing we have learned powerplants using wind coal gas and oil may be better to install near th sources of supply and transport the electricity. All other power plants are better to have near the users of the capacity to slow down the wastage due to transmission.

One more thing we should clearly look at is the use of solar power. Its heat should be harnessed and photo voltaic cells should be used to generate and use closest to the site of production. As electricity is produced in direct current (DC) we should store in batteries and as direct current instead of converting to ac and putting back on the grid.Cost of doing that alone can be enough to manufacture batteries and install Direct current systems in new homes where we have no electricity.

at this early stage we should also decide what voltage Direct Current will be best suited for all sorts of appliances and lighting. From my superficial knowledge of the subject a 24 volt system might have many advantages.Once we all agree on the standard we can concentrate manufacturing the same on a large scale to get the benefits of scale .

With the diverse power supply systems we may be able to keep our environment clean and may have oil for several generations if needed.
