Swami Sarvagatananda a most reverend monk of the Ramakrishna order passed away today morning in Boston .He was 9 7 years old and has been in RI and Mass since 1954.He was Chaplin at Harvard and MIT.In one of his conversations he told me that he served in earlier years as a teacher of Islam in Harvard as he was the only person connected with Harvard who had personal knowledge of Islam .He had also studied scriptures of Islam.I would like to mention many of the monks of Ramakrishna order are real scholars of many relgions. Swami Yogatmananda ji had given many lectures on KABALA as it was getting lot of press just to inform the public about it . One thing more, monks do not study the religion to criticise it ,only to find common ground.
He was also the last monk stationed in Karachi Pakistan at the independence of India and helped many people to get back to India after the formation of Pakistan. A young couple Pran & Triveni Popat had met him in Karachi and they preceded him to this area and had close association with him since his arrival to states .
