Wall Mart and Bharti enterprises is opening best price open wholesale.

Wall Mart is opening its first wholesale store with its Indian partner Bharti enterprises in Amritsar. It seems India is moving into 21st century practices of merchandising, want it or not. These wholesale outlets, i assume will be similar to wholesale clubs like BJS,SAM'S Club and Restaurant depot in America. These whole sale clubs have wiped out smaller wholesalers in America and with the mixed results .We have gained short term price advantage (as public). In the long run many locally owned businesses have disappeared and quality of professional service has been diminished. Impact has been much more pronounced in hardware , appliance and plumbing ,electric supply businesses.
The question is can India benefit from efficiencies of scale in manufacturing and distribution or it will be victim and lose employment in the small scale business sector. It will be ideal if Indian institution of management and social studies department of major Indian institutes studied the practices of wall mart from day one and gave a quarterly report on impact and lessons.
Let us see how this new system will help refrigeration and food preservation techniques in India. Will this trend go into other trades and its impact needs to be observed and reported on by the educational institutes and the media.GOOD LUCK INDIA.
