It is shame that attacks are happening on Indian students in Australia. At times they seem to be racially motivated .We all need to guard our self against racism. When economy turns bad and job market is tight many of us try to blame the new comers for all the problems .
Among college aged youth fights are common .In my state students are charged all the time of starting fights ,getting drunk, crimes of passion and jealousy are also common. It is sad that media and some politicians have tried to make it a racial and political issue.I am glad that world is becoming a family .Our youth are going to far away places and are learning the culture and developing skills to be better citizens.Learning to navigate through difficult situations is one of the important lessons which help us to be mature citizens. Let us not loose the learning opportunity for the grief of this minor violence.
Let us not blow it out of proportion to make an international scene out of it.If anything Australia has better human rights record than most of the countries of the world.May be we should focus our anger against real culprits of human rights violations which are the countries in middle east, who have exploited our poorest citizens for 40 years.Human life of an Indian in Saudi Arabia is worth only one third of the life of Saudi(THAT IS UNDER LAW).No freedom of thought is allowed in many of these countries.I am sad that in year 2009 our citizens are exploited and taken advantage of their hard labor.MOST INDIA AND THE WORLD IS SILENT AGAINST THIS MISTREATMENT.
