Anant Pai, 81, Is Dead; Comics Told Indian Children Their Country’s Stories
New York Times has an obituary of a comic creater Uncle Anant Pai who created "Amar Chitra Katha". A comic book creater and publisher who thought that history has to be made interesting for youth to maintain their interest.Comic was ideal medium to do so .He was one of the earliest comic creaters in India.Prior to that Indian papers used to use only syndicated foreign comics.
By making a picture book of history and other folk and religous tales he made culture aadn history accessible to young of India.India is indebted to him .In a way whole world knows a little more about India from his books.
