Reading an old blog by Farzana -Varsey enlightened me to some issues about surrogate motherhood.India and US are two countries where surrogate motherhood is allowed.ONE THING WE SHOULD BE ALWAYS COGNIZANT OF IS THAT MOTHERHOOD IS NOT CHEAPENED in the process.
Her story in 2008 was about a gay Israeli couple having a child through this process.I am not against gays and surrogates .Somehow Gayness is against the reproduction(child bearing) it is only arrogance where some people want to flaunt the money ,gayness and poverty and cheapen the motherhood with least benefit to society.
We are losing our reverence for the holiest of every day events like motherhood. By putting a price on it we cheapen most magical of human events the birth of a baby. Human life is the last frontier without going to other planets.Monetizing it for parts would be the greatest tragedy.It would be a sad day when we harvest human parts so that decrepit rich peoples bodies can be kept breathings by using bodies and parts of poor people in poor countries.
Simplest rules of united state should apply in all the problems arising out of new technology. Some world body should protect the vulnarable and poor when their is a chance of abuse and exploitation.

It is a beautiful day in washington DC.
President of the US has one of great honors to bestow the Presidential medal of freedom on outstanding world citizens.Today he bestowed this honor on 16 outstanding citizens.These people are indeed unique citizens and nation is honored to recognise their service.
Some of the people on list really stand out.
It was poignant moment when Indian chief Joseph medicine man crow stumbled to the mike against the protocol and said he was pleased and honored.
First woman supreme court justice Sandra Day O Connors was visibly moved by this honor.Steve Hawking took part in his trade mark wheel chair . Mohammad Yunus and Desmond Tutu and Sydney pottier seemed extremely happy to receive the honors.Among several Nobel prize winners present Mr pottier really relished by standing straight and still and have the president put the medal around his neck.Rev lowery seemed to be pleased that this honor was finally bestowed.
Posthumous award for Gay rights activist Harvey Milk made a loud and clear statement that nation honors all who serve irrespective of their sexual orientation.
Minorities and women were well represented in the award recipients.

My India.Court in Delhi overturns ban on gay sex.
India has laws enacted in 1906 by the British colonists which banned homosexuality
It is punishable by law for up to 10 years of imprisonment.
India's Constitution is based on 1935 Government of India act of the British parliament .Their are many laws which do not make sense.Including different family law for people belonging to different faiths.It is time that it had on universal law applying to all Indians.While i am at it I would like to state India should end all restriction on Indian citizens to live and work and own property any where in India they choose.It will unleash Indian entrepreneurial spirit and will reduce costs for government services by procuring local supplies and labor.Unleash the opportunities to all.
I was surprised to learn that communist China had decriminalised Gay sex in 1997. Then again they can implement their laws selectively.So it may have higher impact in India than in China.I would like to see NYT reporting on effects on tourism of this in China and now in India. That would be real journalism.
It is interesting how our courts can take the lead for justice when politicians are not able to .In America also courts were instrumental in breaking the barriers.
I hope this ruling will have effect of enlarging human rights all over the country.It may have effect of protecting under age children from the abuse of gay or bisexual adults who were made illegal earlier.
One wonders how the sex workers of India will be effected by this ruling as prostitution is illegal in India.Will it have positive effects in controlling AIDS and STD's ?
I am glad world looks at India as a more tolerant society because of this ruling.

New York Times has written, “India’s society is generally unwelcoming of homosexuality except in the most cosmopolitan circles” which is incorrect. Homosexuality was accepted in poor and middle class circles where it was understood. When one knew that someone in the family had an inclination towards homosexuality it was accepted with a great deal of sadness because it meant a life of pain and ridicule for the family member who had to make a living in a cosmopolitan town where it was misunderstood.
