Do not tell me that it is more painful for a woman.Did you know that uncircumcised male may bleed at the time of intercourse.Why it is not kosher to talk about male sexuality till it is declining.

We know wars have been gought for fairer sex and for lesser reasons than virginity and money.i would say that is an explosive mixture.

American civil liberties have been reduced some what,but average person has much higher protections under the law than average Indian enjoys.No preventive detention. There may be exception as internment of Japanis americans during secod world war.Even after 9/11 though process of travel has become cumbersome it is still much more open than India is.If India is able to develop decentralised system as well as America with due respect for human dignity even Today it would be improvement. After 8 years many of the rules are being challenged where people (AMERICANS)have been harassed without sufficient cause. The foreign enemy combatants do not get same protections as americans do .

Looks like KSM will get a civilian trial in New York with all protections of complex american legal system as well as presumption of innocence till proven guilty.

You might have also seen some american muslims in front of New York mosque trampling on american flag as protest against american militarism .As their right to protest.In the words(first hand)of Dr Hussaine india's former ambassador to US he said on hearing us supreme court declaring burning of american national flag as legal form of protest "I admire this nations supreme court for allowing burning of the national flag as a protest but i do not understand it."Inspite of its flaws US continues to be beacon of individual freedom.

love your attack on nobel's.
They may not be deserving attack for sure they need more exposure by ordinary (may be not so ordinary )writers.
Saramago makes sense, sometimes . These atheist thinkers and writers make more sense when they are discussing spritual and religous issues.
Saul Bellow declared in Ravelstein that all professors( by proxy serious thinkers )are atheist .I add that they are trying to become theist and religion does not allow them to do so .They end up discussing futility of practiced religion and its follies and end up promoting Saul Bellow's views of them.
I can only label you troublemaker and rebel rouse.
Keep on picking on nobel's or almost Nobel's.You will at least be picking on so called powerful. Gandhi will fall in that category and i could write a critic on his biography,i am re reading it these days.Is he not the holiest of holy cows.

Very nice blog.
What is the purpose of Art .Is it to create controversy,money,learning,promotion of material form .Marc Quinn has succeeded in doing first two and that gives him freedom to follow any whim he may have.
Would i call his works( from the examples you have depicted voyeuristic ? yes yes yes. Kate Moss is depicted in the face, crotch sexuality not even disguised as some tribute to art of yoga.An orange lungi might have done that.
A pregnant Madonna and besides armless falls in the same category.
Are not these modern freak shows disguised as Art( not counting the skill of the artist).
Sorry if i sound dated i have not partaken much art lately other than at the temple of Farzana.
Just want to tell all of my fellow readers that Smithsonian the National Museum of United States in Washington DC is free for all.It got started by donation of Mr Smithson more than 150 years ago.Besides all the services(food novelties etc) are very reasonably priced as these institutions are thought as part of national heritage and get private and public support.
I had paid about 10 franks(then currency of france) at the Louvre in 1971.
I am saying this as many Americans do not even know and some times find it hard to believe that such a premium institution can be free.
Smithsonian has acres and acres of artifacts , curators and interpreters of the all works from minerals, history, airspace.Did I mention it, it is all free.My favourite Darshan and Prasad only for seeking.

Surrogate motherhood in India,

Reading an old blog by Farzana -Varsey enlightened me to some issues about surrogate motherhood.India and US are two countries where surrogate motherhood is allowed.ONE THING WE SHOULD BE ALWAYS COGNIZANT OF IS THAT MOTHERHOOD IS NOT CHEAPENED in the process.

Her story in 2008 was about a gay Israeli couple having a child through this process.I am not against gays and surrogates .Somehow Gayness is against the reproduction(child bearing) it is only arrogance where some people want to flaunt the money ,gayness and poverty and cheapen the motherhood with least benefit to society.

We are losing our reverence for the holiest of every day events like motherhood. By putting a price on it we cheapen most magical of human events the birth of a baby. Human life is the last frontier without going to other planets.Monetizing it for parts would be the greatest tragedy.It would be a sad day when we harvest human parts so that decrepit rich peoples bodies can be kept breathings by using bodies and parts of poor people in poor countries.

Simplest rules of united state should apply in all the problems arising out of new technology. Some world body should protect the vulnarable and poor when their is a chance of abuse and exploitation.
