Kuldip Nayar suports my view on Kashmir.

I have mentioned in one of my previous blogs that Kashmir should be made into three independent administered units. This view has been held by me for at least 15 years and have discussed it with who ever may listen including several MP's and diplomats with no takers.

This is the first time i am finding that a reputed opinion maker and thinker is developing views on similar lines .The condition of Kashmir's Pundits is a matter of shame for secular India and the state administration of Jammu and Kashmir. It is about time that more local government solutions and empowerment be developed in the process .

While i am at it i would like to suggest that no states in India should have population of more than eight percent of the country.Size matters and many times too big may be more of a hindrance than help.

At times argument can be made for not adding additional states in the country or dividing larger states into smaller ones,I am of the view that in developing and young democracy of India there is room for improvement in many fields.A primary system to elect candidates from several parties is one of them as well as may be direct election for Rajya Sabha (upper house of parliament.)These were adopted by much older democracy of USA.
