Well, this confirmed atheist wrote one of the most beautiful definitions of God that I have ever come across:
“We gaze with perplexity at the highest part of the spiral of force that governs the Universe.
“And we call it God.
“We could give it any other name: Abyss, Mystery, Absolute Darkness, Total Light, Matter, Spirit, Supreme Hope, Supreme Despair, Silence.
“But we call it God, because only this name – for some mysterious reason – is capable of making our heart tremble with vigor.
“And let there be no doubt that this trembling is absolutely indispensable for us to be in contact with the basic emotions of the human being”.

Paulo Coelho,s Blog and about precise simple writing
I was reading Coelho's Blog post and noticed that he has a story where this wave seeing that other waves ahead of it were crashing on the rocks and breaking up.She was sad for coming demise till it met other happy wave come by and in answer to the question posed said smilingly" oh do not worry you are not the wave ,you are the ocean " Paulocolehoblog.com
Another story in NYT about precise writing and comments on it had accompaniment to a long letter and apology that read" for lack of time have written you a long letter as i did not have time for a short one"
Language and ideas are wonderful thing .Some times most precise words to express ideas can be NO or YES.

Paulo Coelho asks question by way of Jeane Paul Setau.
Instead of talking to children it can be an interesting veture to ask children questions and their views.
Major Jeane Paul Setau has given a list of some of them.
Here are some of them:
Where do we go after we die?
Why are we afraid of strangers?
Are there extra-terrestrial beings?
Why do accidents happen even to people who believe in God?
Why are we born, if in the end we die?
Who invented war and happiness?
Does the Lord also listen to those who do not believe in the same (Catholic) God?
Why are there poor and sick people?
Why did God create mosquitoes and flies?
Why isn’t the guardian angel close by when we are sad?
Why do we love some people and hate others?
Who gave names to the colors?
If God is in heaven and my mother is up there too because she died, how can He be alive?

Hymn to Isis ( 3rd or 4th century AD)
Published on January 5, 2010 in News. 52 Comments
For I am the first and the last
I am the venerated and the despised
I am the prostitute and the saint
I am the wife and the virgin
I am the mother and the daughter
I am the arms of my mother
I am barren and my children are many
I am the married woman and the spinster
I am the woman who gives birth and she who never procreated
I am the consolation for the pain of birth
I am the wife and the husband
And it was my man who created me
I am the mother of my father
I am the sister of my husband
And he is my rejected son
Always respect me
For I am the shameful and the magnificent one

Happy New Year
Happy New Year.
Last year was a tough year in many ways,I am glad it is over.Looking forward to the 2010 with the anticipation of a child on Christmas eve.
News in Providence Journal that
Forbes magazine has declared that the Ocean State’s drivers are the safest in the nation.
It made my day .In spite of our poor opinion of our own and fellow drivers ability to navigate the roads it made the point i liked .I do not care what parameters they used(i am glad they did not use our own opinion of our selves.)The conclusions are brilliant.Any body who does not agree go argue with Forbes(and good luck)
While checking Paulo Coelho Blog i found Paulo raise this question. If anybody has such a contract as follows. paulocoelhoblog.com
We have a contract, you and I : not to win when victory is possible,” she insisted.
Have you ever made this pact?
Paulo for sure raises intriguing questions.
