MEMOIRS OF A HINDU GIRL.

Memoirs of a Hindu girl

I grew up in fear – every face around me depicted nothing but fear. I am sure that the first expression on my parent’s face on my birth as a female child born to Hindu parents living in Kandhkot would have been that of fear also. Why did I bring so much fear into the lives of my parents? I grew up always wondering what is it about me that continues to terrify. But I always drew a blank. How naïve I was.
Before I knew it, the time to attend school had arrived. School was comfortable; however, there were times when I felt like an outsider, finding it difficult to gel in with rest of the majority. Perhaps the snide remarks and incidents of discrimination led me to believe that I am not one of ‘them’. Of those incidents, I still vividly remember no one eating with me and refusing to sip from the cup I drank from.
Home wasn’t very different either. My mother asked questions about my life at school and otherwise looking for answers that would somehow relinquish her from the unknown fear. Afraid to disappoint her, I realised very early in my life that my mother could not be my confidant.
Growing up was not easy.
And then it happened. The fears of my mother and many Hindu mothers like her materialised. I went out to one of the largest markets of Kandhkot and was abducted by a man I knew very well. He was none other than the guard who was responsible for safeguarding our temples.
Knowing his face well prompted me to sit with him in his car without protest, however, instead of taking me to my house he turned to an alley that I wasn’t too familiar with. Scared and unsure about what lay ahead I started screaming just to hear my abductor scream louder and threaten me. Astonished and unable to comprehend the gravity of the situation I sat still until it was time to step out of the car to a small house which looked abandoned.
We entered the house to find a large room devoid of any furniture and other bearings except for a carpet that covered the floor. I was made to sit down on the floor.
Uncertain about what was going to happen to me; my mind raced with thoughts of the recent news of the abductions and forced conversions of Hindu girls. I sat there shuddering. The realisation struck me and I could see my entire life in front of me in kaleidoscope. My mother’s fears, my father’s warnings, the alienation I felt, the yearning to be a part of the circle of friends, the search for a confidant, a friend.
My worst fears were reaffirmed when a man wearing a turban entered the room to teach me about a religion which I grew up hearing about, however, felt no urge to practise or embrace. He kept sermonising me for hours but was unable to get me to listen to him, realising that he left asking me to ponder about the true religion.
His departure did not ignite any fire for eternal glory inside me but only made me wonder why did my parents not relocate to another country when they had the chance to do so? Why did they continue to live in fear waiting for the inevitable to happen instead of making a move to safer pastures? And, what made me think that I am any different from countless girls who are forced to change their faith?
Each passing day appeared to be more and more surreal. The ritual of preaching continued for days, I lost track. Eventually, when preaching did not do the trick, my abductor threatened me.
The routine ranging from threats to persuasion and from glorifying the paradise to the wrath of God for non-believers only made me wonder: Do we not all pray to the same God — a God who is manifested in nature, colours, happiness and love? Why would he punish me for being a Hindu?
Somewhere along this relentless persuasion, came that horrifying threat of harming my family – I gave in. My approval followed a small ceremony in which I was forced to embrace Islam and later married off to the man who will always be remembered as the ‘messiah’ who for saved me from the unknown territory of sin and infidelity I was treading on.
After the ceremony, instead of receiving blessings for a happy and prosperous life ahead, I was immediately escorted to a local court where a Muslim magistrate declared my conversion and marriage in accordance with the law.
The news of my conversion and marriage to a Muslim man spread like wildfire. I dreaded the moment of meeting my parents. I never wanted to see pain and agony on their faces let alone be the reason for all their grief. Sure enough, one look at my mother made me yearn for my own death.
I wanted to tell her that I love her and that her safety was all I had in mind when I converted. I wanted to tell my father to keep my sisters safe. I wanted to tell my brothers to leave the country whilst they still could. I wanted to say much more but their silent pain and suffering made me wish if only I wasn’t born a girl, if only I wasn’t born in Pakistan, if only I had the right to be myself and practise my faith without being herded into a religion that I failed to comprehend, if only I could make them all understand that there is just one God for all, if only I could give us all an identity that we rightly deserve.
Looking at all the faces that once seemed familiar; I wondered: who am I?
I am one but share the pain of many. I am Rachna Kumari, Rinkle Kumari, Manisha Kumari and the many more Hindu girls who will be forced to convert in Pakistan. I am the fear of their families and the agony that they undergo. I am the misery of those girls who die a little every day for the injustices done to them.
I am a minority living in an intolerant society.

Osama bin laden is dead his body in US custody .He was evil incarnate

After 10 years America has finally killed the devil incarnate himself
Osama Bin Laden leader of Al Qaeda.

He was one of the leaders of Jihadi movement Pakistan Saudi Arabia and USA put together to end soviet occupation. This was a cold war relic.Pakistan and Saudi Arabia was able to convert Afghanistan into a Caliphate who had draconian laws implemented by uneducated Jihadists.Pakistan and Saudi Arabia continued and supported the Taliban governments of Afghanistan. They were brutal and were even part of hijackings of international flights from India costing civilian lives and got the release of long term terrorists from Indian prison. These people lived in Pakistan as state guests. Very comfortable lives. And one was responsible for murder and release of beheading video of Daniel Pearl the reporter for wall street Journal.

Pakistan has helped the terrorist groups who were helping it to keep violence going in India and keeping tensions high in Afghan border Region.Costing many American lives.Pakistan has been exploiting American need for a land route to Afghanistan and the terrorist foothold in border region for its financial exploitation of the situation.
This Kleptocracy and feudal society has totally failed to improve the life of ordinary Pakistanis in last sixty years.
Military has redirected resources provided by America towards getting more advanced nuclear weapons from the Chinese.Have tried to stale mate the American agenda by threatening alliances with China against USA.
they have threatened that they will kill the world if they did not get their way.

Their generals who have more power than the elected leaders have been belligerent and threatening to the world peace.
This death of Osama Bin Laden and taking custody of his body resets the relationships with the military. This will make it easy for general Petr us to implement US agenda in light of his taking over as CIA director.
He understands the politics and structures of powers in the region. It will be an opportunity for him to set the agenda with this changing ally who has not served its own people well.

Congratulations to the participating soldiers for work well done.Osama was the man who changed my basic thinking where my belief that all human being were redeamable was changed .He was the man who made me think that their are people so evil that they can only defined as evil.

About Quran Burning and mutual respect.

Mutual respect requires that we hold others holy and revered relics in high esteem and do not denigrate them.In this tradition all children are taught they should always when s hold flags high fold them properly, protect them from dirt and damage. All children are also told to respect all elders and symbols of other faiths. This respect is mutual and by mutual respect we create harmony in our society.

It is the worst kind of violence when religious symbols are destroyed and not proper respect is given to others symbols and sanctified materials. It is common in Saudi Arabia to confiscate religious materials of the visitors and summarily discard them .Mohammad himself has known to have destroyed deities in Mecca. This was one of the occasions where he was able to prove to his followers that he was more powerful than the Pagan gods. One of the ideals of Islam is to follow Mohammad lead in lifestyle. Ironically many Muslims have taken it to mean to destroy even the places of worship of other faiths.

Sadly it has been reason for destruction of Mosques of other Muslim sects. Shia, and Ahmadi Mosques have been destroyed In Pakistan By Sunny majority in name of Islam. Even the secular places of Sufi shrines have not been left alone.Non tolerance of Taliban had destroyed Bagram Buddha's which wer there not only before Mohammad but even Christ of Nazareth.

Many Christians, Hindu's and Sikhs have been victim of Islamic hegemony in Pakistan and other countries where religious fanaticism is abundant .Now in order to protest burning of Quran by a US preacher (which is not prohibited in US LAW)Actually if somebody wanted to burn bible or other symbol of reverence would also be legally protected. They took the revenge on weak serving members of United Nations in Afghanistan.Killing many innocent people .

In my view Mr Karzai who has lived and worked in US is guilty of Inciting this violence by promoting this act which was not on American news.He knows that US government could not do anything about it other than criticise this act.

I would have forgiven any other person of ignorance not this leader and American Ally Karzai.

Dr Naushad Vaiyani charged with Blasphemy for throwing the calling card of Mohd Faizan.

Karachi. A doctor charged with blasphemy. It is a unique case bordering on being unbelievable.

Naushad Valiyani was detained on Friday following a complaint by a medical representative who visited the doctor in the city of Hyderabad.

“The arrest was made after the complainant told the police that Valiyani threw his business card, which had his full name, Muhammad Faizan, in a dustbin during a visit to his clinic,” regional police chief Mushtaq Shah told AFP

Sadly this comes from the practitioners of islam who ahve destroyed Banyan Budha's which were older than Mohamed.
Mr Valiyani is an Ismaily , even after the complainant was satisfied that he did not blasphem Mohd. Others including clerics draged him and took him to police station and he was charged under pakistan's Blasphemy laws .
In Pakistan they do not care if you are Muslim or not as Ismailies are Muslim but of a minority sect.
Many mosques of minority muslims have been burned with worshippers in them .Sad situation.

I could not sleep and terror is from both sides.

I have been dreaming and more like night mares. These have left me twisting and turning.
Oh I watched Pakistan Military kill six Unarmed men in a back field .It seemed most brutal killing i had seen .It was done in name of islam and state of Pakistan. It is impossible for me to differentiate between killings of Taliban and the state in this case .It is brutal .It is demoralising. One loses the faith in the human dignity and state in crisis.

Taliban has used summary killing so has the pakistan military and police. It serves the purpose of demoralising the public .Public hanging of suspects is a tool used in pakistan by public as well as the insugents.

These practice of public humiliation and corporal punishment is not compatible with 21 st century mindset. For the world to see it and do nothing is like sactioning it .If my government wont do anything about it i will protest against it.
In unity with people of pakistan and the humanity in all of us i protest so this atrocity by the government and will work to stop it.

Spata lays out the problem in Afghanistan.washington post

Real Nice article by Spanta, National Security adviser to government of Afghanistan.

Pakistan is the Afghan war's real aggressor

By Rangin Dadfar Spanta

After the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Afghanistan became a rare example of international consensus. The global community, amid competing regional and international interests, undertook a military intervention endorsed and legitimized by the U.N. Security Council. It was common knowledge that al-Qaeda had created a haven in Afghanistan with the support of Pakistan's intelligence agency. Dismantling this regional terrorist infrastructure was considered vital to the international counterterrorism strategy.

Then-U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage delivered a message to Pakistan's president, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, in November 2001: It could join the international coalition or be bombed "back to the stone age." Across the border, the Afghan people persecuted by the brutal rule of the Taliban and al-Qaeda, as well as by the lordship of Pakistani generals, welcomed the international community with open arms. We have made significant progress in recent years. But our achievements in education, health, development and civil rights have been overshadowed and eroded by terrorist attacks.

There is ongoing domestic and international confusion in identifying Afghanistan's friends and foes. The Afghan people are wholeheartedly grateful to the international community for its sacrifices in blood and treasure. Unfortunately, the military-intelligence establishment of one of our neighbors still regards Afghanistan as its sphere of influence. While faced with a growing domestic terrorist threat, Pakistan continues to provide sanctuary and support to the Quetta Shura, the Haqqani network, the Hekmatyar group and al-Qaeda. And while the documents recently disclosed by WikiLeaks contained information that was neither new nor surprising, they did make public further evidence of the close relations among the Taliban, al-Qaeda and Pakistani intelligence.

The international community is present in Afghanistan to dismantle these international terrorist networks. Yet the focus on this fundamental task has progressively eroded and has been compounded by another strategic failure: the mistaken embrace of "strategic partners" who have, in fact, been nurturing terrorism.

Much has been said about the political will of the Afghan government, governance in our country and corruption. These are mainly domestic variables. It is true that an exhausted and desperate political elite in Afghanistan, faced with predatory and opportunistic individuals in and outside the power structures, allowed the mafia to penetrate into politics. State institutions were undermined and the rule of law weakened. Undoubtedly the absence of transparency in contracts and the presence of private security companies clearly connected to certain officials -- contributing ultimately to the privatization of security and thus insecurity in our country -- are matters of grave concern. But the international terrorist presence in the region is not entrenched solely because of Afghan corruption. Britain, Spain, Turkey, China, Germany and India have all been victims not of Afghan corruption but of international terrorism -- emanating from the region.

It is my firm conviction that securing our people, districts and towns from terrorists; institutionalizing the rule of law; and fighting corruption are necessary steps toward building a strong and responsive state. But that is not enough. No domestic measure will fully address the threat of international terrorism, its global totalitarian ideology or its regional support networks. Dismantling the terrorist infrastructure is a central component of our anti-terror strategy, and this requires confronting the state that still sees terrorism as a strategic asset and foreign policy tool.

To be clear, Afghanistan opposes the expansion of conflicts into other countries and opposes unwarranted military interventions in the internal affairs of sovereign nations. But global efforts to counter terrorism will not succeed until and unless there is clarity on who our friends and foes are.

The conflict we are engaged in is becoming a long and expensive war for us and our international partners. The Afghan people are rightly frustrated and exhausted by a war in which the line between friends and foes is blurred. Global opinion has also turned against us. Yet surely it is understandable that we have failed to mobilize people for a cause where the fighting is in one place and the enemy is in another. How can we persuade Afghans, or the parents of young soldiers from coalition countries, to support a war where our "partners" are involved in killing their sons and daughters? While we are losing dozens of men and women to terrorist attacks every day, the terrorists' main mentor continues to receive billions of dollars in aid and assistance. How is this fundamental contradiction justified?

The Afghan people are no longer ready to pay the price for the international community's miscalculation and naivety. The aggressor understands only one language: that of force and determination. Afghanistan, along with the United States and many other nations, is a victim of terrorism. The international community must establish a clear alliance among such victims. We cannot mobilize the Afghan people with uncertainty, confusion or appeasement of those who sponsor terrorism.

The writer is national security adviser of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. He served previously as foreign minister.

A message to Muslims who want to build a Mosque at ground zero

For America where all religions have equal footing and no religion ahs the same standing. A group of Muslims from New York have bought a building near ground zero.Ground zero is known as such as it was the site where iconic world trade centers the highest buildings for long time in the world stood and were destroyed by fanatic Islamic terrorist mostly from Saudi Arabia who had training and support from Al Qaida based in Pakistan and Afghanistan on September 11 2001. It has become the sad day in American history known as 9/11 .

Since then we have attacked Afghanistan and Iraq.Life around the world has changed. Security is the new Buzz world.Cost of this has been in trillions of dollars.Sense of security has been lost.We have started questioning everybody.Privacy is disappearing.Images of Japanese internment camps are revived in our joint conscience.

Their are questions every Muslim of America needs to ask that what have they done to promote brotherhood and tolerance in Muslim majority societies.

Would they Petition that residents of Muslim Majority nations be allowed equal rights as enshrined to them in US Constitution.Would they ask Muslim Majority countries to allow to build places of worship for non Muslim residents.Would they ask equal rights for the women and non discrimination in law to all citizens. To start with an open appeal to most egregious offenders that is Saudi Arabia and Pakistan be made and made in the form of open letter.

Eliminate laws which allow sale of female minor child by marriage or to resolve disputes. Sanctity of human personshould be considered supreme.I am sad to report that in Saudi Arabia a woman's life is worth half as much as mans and Indian/Pakistani/Philippine is worth one fourth.Where is equality under Islam/Allah.Why Muslims do not complain for their breatheren.

I am asking for litmus test to prove one's americanness.Yes may be so.Being an American is only an idea ,if you believe in that you may be born in India or china you still are of the American mindset.I am lucky that though born in India with American mindset i had opportunity to become American and i live in USA. If somebody thinks it is only the economy of America that the world is after they are mistaken. Most of us like the Idea called America and are willing to defend it.

Finally to my Muslim brothers who want to build a mosque at ground zero.I have a suggestion :

postpone building new mosque for ten years,

and develop understanding with local people and lobby so that people of other faith may build houses of prayer in Muslim Majority countries.I would start with Saudi Arabia And i will ask them to allow them to respect all the religions and books of all faith and not to destroy them on arrival at the airport.I have been told that when Indian/hindu laborers go to Saudi arabia and they have religous icons .Saudi Customs confiscate them and throw them in garbage.

After ten years if you still choose to build mosque there it will be a gesture of healing rather than Bluster which most Americans feel it is now.To heal some times we give and give more. This can be a bridge building effort to heal New York.

JUST THINK HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF THE POSITIONS WERE REVERSED.

Pakistan,supreme court,constitution law and life.Dawn news

Constitution tossed on the floor of the supreme court of Pakistan.

During today’s proceeding, one of the petitioners, Shahid Orakzai, argued against the establishment of the Islamabad High Court (IHC). Petitioner made a point that as Islamabad was not a state it can not have its own high court. He further stated that appointment of supreme court justices was also not constitutional .To show his disdain for the constitution He further said he would prefer the Holy Quran over the country’s constitution if he had to make a choice between the two. He then tossed a copy of the Constitution to the floor.

THis is the position of the constitution which the Judges of the supreme court are supposed to uphold.

few months back 90 members of the Ahmadi sect were killed by some fanatics for belonging to that faith. This cold blooded murder had very little protest in the public. Not long ago Saying of Quran were chiseled from the house of worship of Ahmadi's.they can not by law call them Masjid, they can only be called meeting halls.

Pakistan is in tough shape. No law and order .Minorities have no rights just yesterday two Christians were killed by a gunman in police custody while being prepared to be presented in court on trumped up charges of Blasphemy which is punishable by death in Pakistan. No body has been punished in Pakistan on blasphemy charges.Hundreds have died in police custody or have been killed by fanatics on blasphemy rumors.State has failed to protect Christians,Sikhs,Hindus and Ahmadi's a sect of Muslims not recognised in Pakistan as muslim.

It is sad the only Nobel laureate of Pakistan was an ahmadi. After ahmadi's were declared non Muslims by state he had left Pakistan .On his death his body was buried in Pakistan and on his grave it was inscribed that he was the first Muslim Nobel Laureate ,and somebody with the sanctions of state had Muslim scrubbed from his grave stone .

If you are looking for Islam as the religion of tolerance and peace it is very very hard to find such Islam in Islamic Republic of Pakistan(land of the pure).

Ahmadiyya mosques attacked by terrorists in name of Islam

Pakistan has a sad history.Only Pakistani to win Nobel prize was an Ahmadi named DR.Abdus Salam .Here is a short excerpt from Wikipedia.

"Abdus Salam was a devout Muslim, and a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community[9], who saw his religion as integral to his scientific work. He once wrote: "The Holy Quran enjoins us to reflect on the verities of Allah's created laws of nature; however, that our generation has been privileged to glimpse a part of His design is a bounty and a grace for which I render thanks with a humble heart."[5]
During his acceptance speech for the Nobel Prize in Physics, Salam quoted the following verses from the Quran:
“ Thou seest not, in the creation of the All-merciful any imperfection, Return thy gaze, seest thou any fissure. Then Return thy gaze, again and again. Thy gaze, Comes back to thee dazzled, aweary. ”
He then said:
“ This, in effect, is the faith of all physicists; the deeper we seek, the more is our wonder excited, the more is the dazzlement for our gaze.[10] ”

In 1974, when the Parliament of Pakistan declared Ahmadis to be non-Muslims, he left Pakistan for London in protest.

Ahmadi web site also talks about its founder Mirza Gulam Ahmad from Kadian. It states

He divested Islam of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings. He also recognized the noble teachings of the great religious founders and saints, including Zoroasteras, Abrahamas, Mosesas, Jesusas, Krishnaas, Buddhaas, Confuciusas, Lao Tzu and Guru Nanak, and explained how such teachings converged into the one true Islam.

It is sad to mention that When Pakistan Declared that Ahmadiyya non muslim by constitution in Pakistan ,Mr Abdus Salam left Pakistan in protest. He never returned.

After his death his body was returned to Pakistan and was interned in a grave next to his parents.

The inscription read "First Muslim Nobel Laureate".

The parties which may be very powerful could not accept this and by court order had the words Muslim erased.Such is the state of affairs in Pakistan.

It is routine to see policemen chiseling away sayings of Quran from Musjids of Ahmadis. They do not realize that they are destroying words in praise of Allah for the arrogance.

I AM AFRAID IN PRESENT ENVIRONMENT IN PAKISTAN HOPE OF A PEACEFUL MULTIFAITH MODERN SOCIETY IS DIMINISHED BY THIS TRAGEDY.

Sad Sikh Be heading In Pakistan,

Dawn news Pakistan Feb 22 2010,
Sadly conditions of minority and even Shia are becoming unbearable in Pakistan's frontier region.

Three Sikhs were kidnapped from Chora Tanga and a demand of 20 Million was made for Kirpal Singh's release. When elders of a local Jirga and relatives of Kirpal Singhwent to negotiate release of Kirpal Singh beheaded body of Kirpal Singh was given to them.Evry so often such acts happen in Pakistan where it showes that government is unwilling and unable to protect citizens.

Everytime a ray of hope is seen some dastardly act makes it impossible for the Country to improve its human rights record.

If it is not Sikhs,it is christians ,who are killed.Shia Musjids and Dargahs of peers are routinely bombed and many innocent are killed in the process.Just recently i watched in Horror pakistani police break the saying of Quran from the mosqes and homes of Ahmadia families. They would not even leave the sanctity of Quranic verses in their Zealot behaviour.

Muslim Majority countries should work at improving life of minorities.

There are sad news all over.Muslims are majority in many of the countries of the world. Most of these countries are Sunny and many have family and tribal rulers with absolute powers not imaginable in the west. Many of the Islamic majority countries when they become democratic loose their tolerant character as mullahs from the mosques threaten and manipulate people and for political and other reasons they become more rigid in the interpretation of their faith .

This week news is bad for Coptic Christians of Egypt who form 20 percent of the Egyptian population their services were disrupted and 8 Coptic died in this senseless violence.
News from Malaysian church is is equally bad .In Malaysia the fight is over the use of word Allah for god.Malaya language word for god is Allah and the Muslims want exclusive use of the word for only Muslim God and are ready to die and kill for this privilege.Minorities who are christian,Buddhist ,Hindu, many can be identified as of ethnic Chinese and Indian .Many churches have been attacked in last week and many mosques are exploiting the peoples emotions in the process harming the peace in the community. Hindu Temples have been destroyed in the past with government sanctions for frivolous of the reasons.

"We will not allow the word Allah to be inscribed in your churches," one speaker shouted into a loudspeaker at the Kampung Bahru mosque. About 50 other people carried posters reading "Heresy arises from words wrongly used" and "Allah is only for us."

"Islam is above all. Every citizen must respect that," said Ahmad Johari, who attended prayers at the National Mosque. "I hope the court will understand the feeling of the majority Muslims of Malaysia. We can fight to the death over this issue."

The Language used above negates the human right declaration in the U.N charter and make the minorities afraid and vulnerable to abuse by the majority.

Last weeks attack By Sunny on a Shia procession in Karachi reprehensible. Many Shia and Sufi shrines have been destroyed by Sunny zealots in Pakistan.Sikhs in frontier have been made to pay Jazia the protection money prescribed in Islam and even after paying their houses have been raised and have been forced to leave the country under duress. These are their ancestral lands.

Last week Bangla desh reaffirmed its secular religious character. This is reversal of the effort by military junta's of the past to make it a Islamic state.SO MAY BE ALL IS NOT LOST.

WHAT IS IN STORE FOR AFGHANISTAN AND USA

Soviets and Americans left Afganistan and vietnam in humiliation respectively.

While America is studying its options in Afghanistan. They are shrinking and without the help broader international allies and the locals it may become a war without clear end .This type of stalemate we can neither afford nor the people of Afghanistan or Pakistan deserve.

We helped create our monster (Al Qaeda) and militarised the region .We (us,Saudi Arabia and Pakistani intelligence and military dictatorship is responsible for this monster. Now we have to kill it to defend ordinary people from its clutches.

Now we can not fight on behalf of afghan or Pakistanis nor we can let the enemies of humanity plan and carry out terror activity and subjugate ordinary citizens at the same time like some medieval bad movie.

So our choices are limited we need to train Pakistanis and Afghans with help of locals as well Indians and Iranians who have long term relations in the area.Let them defend themselves and help them in this fight.Help them improve education and quality of life in clear identified way so that Al Qaeda and Taliban can not get the credit for it our goal is that they do not succeed in intimidating locals..This development should be outsourced to India (at lower cost) and it will help India to develop capacity .Which is great for a democratic ally.Naturally reducing tension with Iran and using its structures to help in the region will also help us in achieving our goals.

We can not let our contractors bleed our system and our soldiers bleed.

Anti Afghan rhetoric is not good for America.

Lately if you have noticed as US is making a higher commitment to Afghanistan there is class Mostly senator Kerry and friends who have started bad mouthing Afghans and their system and abilities.
We have empowered Karzai and supported him .He has won the election for sure with a better margin than George bush or john Kennedy had done.
Instead of giving support to him we are trying to undermine him without any clear agenda or plan.
Mr Kerry was given highest honors by Pakistan on his visit similar to our medal of freedom .He has shown his sympathy to the Pakistani elite by towing their line on international affairs and in particularly in the us senate.

He should know that India can not progress without having enough energy. It is important that nuclear power generation be part of this mix .Realising this and to reward India for its democracy and nuclear non proliferation George Bush made a deal to allow India to develop nuclear power generation and help its large and exploding population become part of progressive developing world.

There are always thousand reasons not to do something and thousand reasons to do it.
At times in life of nations and people opportunities come which can change the course of world. If India is successful in producing enough electricity in next ten
years it will unleash a human potential of great measure in the history of India and The world. For sure it will allow India to have the greatest progress in 300 years thanks to a republican not much liked president with questionable election George W Bush.

It is important that strong relations be developed with India that is what Afghanistan wants. It will make our relations with India,Afghanistan and others in proper perspective.More we empower Pakistan without the intended results(Economic aid badly needed and not provided) more our other allies become Alienated.
India may not be as powerful today as China but with its democracy and multi ethnic multi religious ,multi cultural society.Which resembles more of USA it will progress to great heights.I am betting on them following democracy and freedom to achieve economic success.I think this is the American Way.

A sad comment

"I lower my gaze in shame. I am embarrassed by my identity."

A blogger responds to an article about murder of minorities in Gojra Pakistan.

As long as Pakistan still has people like this author I say we are with you and proud of your stand .You and people like you are hope for Pakistan and the world.

PAKISTAN CRIES & new york times tell part of story

"Intimidation of witnesses became a more effective tool after 1990, when an Islamic provision known as “blood money” was passed that allowed criminals to settle their crimes with victims’ families outside court."

World has moved out of middle ages . Abuse by colonials has been replaced by abuse by locals .When colonial laws did not suit they adopted archaic Islamic laws .

This law of blood money is nothing but intimidation of the weak , abuse of power and subjugation of the poor and continuation of the cruelty of man.One can kill and rape other then intimidate the family in accepting money .Most poor and week have no choice but to accept as government has not provided security and peace to the victims.Victims are made aware as powerful have resources they will pursue unlimited appeals as well kill and intimidate the witnesses without fear. Not having resources to fight or defend victims accept meager financial compensation and courts have no choice but to accept these agreements making weak even weaker in the process.Weak are reminded of this on daily basis as many examples of it are their in the neighborhood.

Very large land holding by few land lords has also played havoc with the nation. These landlords have private prisons and have made the mockery of state and most of the time joined the state to increase power. This Law of blood money gives unusual power to these groups which they did not have in colonial times.
Kerala style land reforms may be the type of reforms needed in Pakistan .Establishing minimum and maximum land ceiling to start with and compensating these land owners in six years depending on the success of the program and restriction by law to limit large holdings and sale of land by the poor for two generations.

Most important contribution we Americans can make is to give our aid with our representatives on the ground.Funding 50 thousand aids and service trainees to be trained in America and sent all over the world with three year service mandate will develop the core people we need. This investment of about 3 billion dollars per year will increase the capacity of our people tremendously.

Violence, economic loss & role playing

Try this experiment if you dare . Just imagine if you will.

Go to a friends house ask for a glass of water. When water comes without malice and anger smash the glass on the ground .If your friend looks at you in amazement and a little perturbed or lot angrier and mad, pay him cost of the glass which may be between one to ten dollars and see the reaction Actually pay ten dollars to make sure you have compensated enough for the financial loss. Now imagine the roles reversed .How would you react to the same situation.

This exercise is to make the point of destruction of property as violence to the soul and disrespect to the divinity. In above mentioned case the smashing of the glass without malice and anger and with compensation left everything off kilter and even when done by a friend in least hurtful manner. Add the elements of disrespect ,anger and brutality and abuse normally part of such destruction( like burning of homes and other violence by mobs )
Add to the scenario you are part of a weak minority without support of the law and order agencies and history of culprits going unpunished .That is a very tragic situation to live in.

Sadly this is happening in Gojra to the Christians and Sikhs in malkand ,Shia ,Ahmadia's and Sufi,s of Pakistan. It has continued without government doing enough to check these trends.

We should all get together against violence .Sadly several years ago these atrocities happened in Shantinagar (peace city). Some times violence only can neutralise violence. It should be tool of state under prudent control to bring justice and peace
.
This type of violence is not limited to Pakistan but it seems to be systematic problem . In India Kashmiri pundits have been unable to live in their ancestor homes for over 20 years after the violence on them . Government has a little better record of protecting Muslims and other minorities than they have for for Kashmirs Pandits.

Protection of innocent is the duty of the government and it is required to perform it.

Pakistan Cries no body hears and ones who hear are silent.

Pakistan Cries no body hears and is crying louder, the ones who hear are weak and afraid.First they Declared Ahmedia's non Muslim .The only Nobel laureate of Pakistan who was Ahmedia chose not to come back. Pakistan lost and loss is not to ideologues or generals it is loss to scientific community, to the youth who lost an outstanding role model, possible mentor and facilitator. You kill the minority view, the variety of understanding and knowledge slowly disappears .Our knowledge becomes smaller and closer to the knowledge of human animal alone not a scient(knowing) being .That is a sad place to be.

As more humans reproduce among close relatives biodiversity in human species will reduce creating the human health problems we do not yet fully understand.

A young woman being ruthlessly beaten is great tragedy for a nation.

Marrying young girls who do not know any better as soon as they menstruate as adults is shame on the society.Even if Quran or Bible,Bhagawat gita says so .Call me atheist and i do not want to be party to this tragedy. If religion does not reconcile with human development and developmental science ,world will have hordes of people without god like communist countries have produced in many countries.I am surprised how Russia kept its spiritualism these all years ,may be the credit goes to liberal and scientific education which not only challenged no god of communism. In Russia after the demise of communism God has come back in Fashion without being sanctioned by state.

In Pakistan all the Christian missionary schools with 10 thousand students in Karachi alone had been closed and this is in response to brutal killing of Pakistani Christians in Gojra .

It is sad that Pakistan is going the route of Nazi Germany like them Pakistan has tried to marginalise one after other minority .They first at the partition by mistreatment got rid of most of Hindu's While today Hindu majority India has more Muslims than Pakistan. Many other minorities if had choice either migrated or disappeared in the system to avoid hatred .Hindus have all left even from Sindhi including India's leader of opposition mister Advani.Population of Hindus and Sikhs has gone from 30 percent to 1 percent and are in constant fear.Even the remaining Sikhs and Hindus have to pay tax of Jazia(tax on non muslims imposed by Taliban).Who have collected these funds and then still taken over their homes and destroyed them for threat as well as political and financial gain.

Pakistan has not protected Shia's from abuse by Wahabi's of Saudi influence who send not only funds for Madressa's which are no more than machines for creating Jihadis'.These organizations have many foreigners there in name of religion.I do not understand why America does not put its representatives on ground to monitor its aid .America is the largest donor.

They have also killed and burned many Shia and their Mosques.Sufi shrines have been desecrated and they have threaten Sufi's against performing their rituals. Many shrines have been taken over by Taliban supporters.Result of all this is that for Sufi and Shia ,INDIA a hindu majority nation has become a preferred homeland.

Now in the latest phase Taliban and sympathisers have started harassing and killing Christians who felt they were relatively safe ,just to challenge the authority of the state .They feel that many of the elite of Pakistan's military, civil and intelligentsia is product of Chritian schools in Pakistan. These institutions have been a permanent beacon of hope for new generations and have helped keep Pakistan connected with the rest of the world.

WHEN EVER ATROCITIES ARE COMMITTED AGAINST ONE, WORLD HAS TO REACT OR WHEN THEY ARE ABUSIVE TO YOU NOBODY WILL BE THERE. WE ARE ALWAYS MINORITY OF ONE.

For lack of $3.75poor 19 year old looses her baby

Nikolas Kristof of NYT writes beautifully about plight of a poor Pakistani Girl Shazia only 19 years old whose child dies in child birth for lack of 300 rupees($3.75) for taxi fare to take her to the hospital. She suffered 30 hours of labor as her pelvis was too small she could not deliver the baby vaginally. When she reached the free hospital she was saved but her child could not be saved .It was too late.

I cried my tears of sorrow and disgust at human condition so miserable and hopeless. God , Allah, Rab,Jesus and Krishna and all the agnostics and atheists combined failed to save this tragedy. This type of tragedy has been sold to poor as a will of God.IF THIS IS THE WILL OF GOD I DESPISE THAT GOD.I even deplore agnostics and athiest and to there lack of faith which does not absolve them from responsiblity of this atrocity.I am sorry i have not done my share to end this type of tragedy.

Mr Kristof calls this will of god as blasphemy .I will not be that kind.

Thanks Mr Kristof for keeping the world informed and focused on many tragedies.

Pakistans lawless police

Tragedy of Pakistan is that it's police has become like the Taliban. According to reports in the media more than 650 people are reported missing in the country. Most of these missing people are picked up by police or intelligence agencies of the country without recourse or information . These agencies hold these people and torture them sometimes release them for ransom( as it is not always clear who are the abductors).

Taliban abduct people including officials and police for ransom and exchange of prisoners and at times to terrorise the public. As many important political abducts have died or are killed in police custody and their bodies are dumped .In the process respect for the law has vanished in many parts of society who are on the fringes to begin with.

It is important that uniform police procedure be implemented and when government and its agencies arrest people (it should be with knowledge of courts)they should not be allowed to kidnap or abduct people .
Un identified Police acting like Goons has no place in society, which want to be representative of the citizens.By acting professionally and in public interest police forces can garner the support of the ordinary citizens which is essential for law and order.

IT IS ALWAYS VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE CIVILIAN CONTROL OF THE UNIFORMED FORCES.

Talking heads are talking Military strategy minus the info

I find it really silly that talking heads are talking military strategy with ordinary citizens who are not privy to all the information. It is bad as these are not the military experts and their knowledge is media based and media has very very limited knowledge and i feel that it has not served us well about the information on terrorist groups . If they were not just feeding the information provided by regime and the terrorists and were just repackaging.Al Jazeera has just rebroadcast Al Qeida and Taliban video's .I have not found much info in media which were original on the ground facts reporting.

Media is victim of manipulation so they have little reporting from China's hinterlands, Saudi Mal treatment of foreign labor and treatment of minority religions in Arabia. Abuses of girl children in Pakistan and other Muslim societies( Girls on mensuration are considered adult and fit for marriage). Treatment of children as chattel and fodder for religious zealots.Saudi Arabia's funding of these Marassa's and undue influence because of that . No involvement of Americans in actual delivery of relief to Pakistan civilians in spite of funding of several thousands dollars given per person in last 60 years.

US needs a long term strategy on the basis of philosophy where our allies will treat their citizens with respect. We may have short term alliances with other types of regimes. It is time that we tell the world that we are not responsible ,if sun does not shine, we are not that powerful. If your government has mis used funds and resources provided by us we are guilty for not having the oversight but you are also responsible for the failures of your governments.

We understand that ordinary citizens are too weak at times to challenge the powerful in government .But we are still responsible for our families ,our towns our countries and then the world. America has paid at times attention to world and have ignored the individual, family, and nation. So we find our nation struggling to take care of itself. America will be much more useful to the rest of the world by taking care of its house first. It may take few years but the genius of America is such that she can take care of any adversity.
